The Making of Nine is an artist talk featuring Leah Glenn, choreographer and Artistic Director of Leah Glenn Dance Theatre and visual artist Steve Prince of One Fish Studio, as well as their collaborators Dr. Hermine Pinson (poet) and Dr. Jamel Donner (historian) focusing on their commemorative multi-media performance piece celebrating the Little Rock Nine.
The performance work Nine seamlessly interweaves the vocabularies of dance, visual arts, poetry, and music in a narrative that reminds our nation of its collective history while causing us to reflect upon the repercussions of those damages upon our current education system. This artist talk will provide audiences with a bird’s eye view of the choreographic/rehearsal process, the building of the costumes, set pieces, sound score and an exploration of the historical content that continues to inspire the work.
